If you are offended by nudity, don't read this post

HA that got your attention didn't it?

Really there is nudity in this post...its not porn or anything...but don't say you haven't been warned.

I received this in an email recently.

THE QUEENS GUARDS!

If you wait long enough, all questions finally get answered.

Happy Monday Morning! :)

Jabbering

The boys went hunting (ducks, geese or something else that flies…I don’t know) this morning and so we all had to get up at 4 freakin 45 AM!

Dh woke me and I went and woke the kid before taking Peanut out…cause now that she is awake…she has to go Now, Now, Now, Now (picture little tap-dancing puppy here).

Kiddo gets up with no problem, unlike school days where it takes anywhere from 15-20 minutes of me screaming for him to crawl out of bed. From now on, I’m going to wake him at 4:45 AM and tell him he’s going hunting with his Dad. By the time he realizes I’m lying, he’ll be awake.

I make the kid toast and they are off. I grab the now wide awake Peanut and cuddle up on the couch with her to go back to sleep.

And after about 10 minutes of listening to her not-so-quietly snore in my ear, I realize I can’t sleep.

And so I begin composing this post in my head. Don’t you wish you could get thoughts to auto write somewhere? It would save so much time. Not to mention, I would be a best selling author by now too.

Not all thoughts, though, cause there are plenty of mine that have no business being in print…I get enough weird looks as it is. But I digress….again.

So then I decide I am just not comfortable on the couch. I pop Peanut into her crate and head back upstairs to climb into my nice big empty queen sized bed. I climb in on his side (cause I can) and luxuriate in the cool crispness of the sheets.

It is warm in the room because I closed the window last night because the neighbours where having one last noisy party and I knew I had to get up at stupid O’clock!

Once I warm up his side of the bed, I move over to the coolness on my side. And realize I still can’t sleep.

I used to get up early when I was working. Usually around 5:15-5:30 AM (depending on how many times I hit snooze). I am not looking forward to doing that again.

So here I am jabbering at 6 AM while I should still be dreaming about Keanu Reeves or something.

Men and their stupid hunting! (originally I wrote "Stupid men and their hunting", I'm not sure which is more applicable)

P.S. And I know when they get back, DH will go take a nap. I think that is when I will reorganize the pots & pans cupboard :)

New recipe

Today I made Taco Lentils & Brown Rice and put them on the bottom of a casserole dish.

Then I made Taco Bake (minus the refried beans) mixture and put it on top of the rice & lentil mixture, and then topped it all with cheddar & mozzerella cheese and baked for 30 mins.

It turned out really good and filling!

I've been sewing again

Prompted by Melody's recent shopping spree.

Nothing finished yet. I bought interfacing at Wal Mart (cause that is where I was) but it is not stiff enough - I have to make a trip to a proper fabric store soon.

I have to modify the red one -it is too tall and I will never do those type of straps again - just too hard to make them look good.

I'll update once they are complete.

Pin cushion / Needlebook Swap

I participated in a Pin cushion & Needle book swap over at Down To Earth.

My partner was Bonnie in Alberta.

I got my swap items today!
They are wonderful!

Bonnie made me this huge flower pin cushion - I will never misplace this!

And I love the fabrics she used on the quilted needle book.

She also threw in some wonderful goodies - Sugar scrub, Hazelnut Truffle hot chocolate (I will have to hide this from hubby) and Russell Stover dark chocolates (oh yum! Luckily, no one else here likes dark chocolate ;))

And if that weren't wonderful enough, she also got me a pretty flowered journal (you know I love to write!), a cute little tin with quilts on it and two lovely fat quarters of fabric that I am drooling over (I will probably have them for years because they are too pretty to cut :))

Close-up of the quilts on the tin

Yummy Fat quarters
Bonnie doesn't have a blog, so I am posting the pin cushion and needlebook I made her here. I sent a couple extra treasures too, but didn't take a picture of them.

It is so wonderful to receive things in the mail! I can't wait til the next swap!

Thank you so much Bonnie - I love it all!

Just another mini catch-up post

I am an aunt again - My nephew (who is doing fine after his brain surgery a couple months back) and his fiance had a baby boy on Sept 11th. Both Mom & babe are doing fine. I haven't yet seen any pictures (ack hem H - get busy sending pics!)

Not too much going on for me lately. Hubby came home from Florida with a cold and now my son has it.

I am still looking for work with little luck.

I haven't been in a sewing mood lately and it is really bugging me. There are SO many things I could be working on, but I lack the motivation. I'm in a slump I think.

It is getting cooler here in the mornings (very cool when you go out side at 6 am in a nightgown to take the puppy pee!)

Monday is the first day of fall - summer went by far too fast. I have to get my butt in gear or I will miss fall too!

Happy Autumn to you all :)

Worth repeating

You have probably seen this before...but it is just so good :)

Things I've Stumbled Upon....and liked

Very funny stuff - Funny metaphors used in high school essays

And I thought I had problems with some of my son's teachers.

So cool!

Some people have too much time on their hands.

This sounds interesting.

Also very cool.

Just plain weird - but #5 happens to me all the time.

And finally...I could spend hours (and did!) at this site looking at all the luscious food! Great pics & recipes!

Green Kids

Our children are learning that they have to be kind to our environment. They are learning that they must live Green in order to have a healthy planet to live on. Fresh and Green is helping us create green kids.

They have a large selection of earth friendly products that are not just good for the environment, but products kids find cool too!

I think my son would love this cool little indoor gardening kit made from recycled milk jugs.

They would probably make really nice Christmas gifts too.

Just like any other siblings...

my two dogs play together and fight over toys.

Note: the barking dog is not one of mine.

The large black thing they are fighting over is a Kong, it is Kodi's.

Peanut had a small (2.5" long x 1.5 wide) red one.It was about a quarter the size of that black one...but it has gone missing.

We think Kodi ate it.

Yes you read that right. We are pretty sure he ate it. We have turned the house upside down looking for it, but cannot find it anywhere. We caught him stealing it from her crate a few times and took it off him.

We have been watching Kodi closely. His bathroom habits seemed a little off the first couple days but now he is back to normal and still no sign of the lil red Kong.

Oh well.

Since Peanut no longer had her Kong to chew on, we bought her a Kong Wubba.

It is (we hoped) too long for Kodi to eat. However, Peanut made short work of the Wubba.

We have to go looking for large indestructible puppy toys this weekend.

Mini catch-up

My husband is in Orlando Florida this week on business training. He left here Sunday morning at 7am. We have talked to him twice so far and it sounds like he is having way too much fun for training :)

The hotel he is in is supposedly amazing. They are provided 3 great meals each day with their training. He and co-workers have been going swimming each evening in a saltwater pool - he never wants to go swimming while home.

Wednesday & Thursday evenings they are being provided with shuttle buses to take them to Disney dowtown (shopping area) and/or Paramount Studios. Sounds like hard work doesn't it?

My son and I don't yet have our passports, or we could have gone with him and checked out Disney land while he was in class each day.

He thinks there will me more training next fall, but we are not sure where it will be yet.

So it is just J, the dogs and I home alone (oh ya and Papa in the basement).

I am trying to get motivated and get some much needed house cleaning, decluttering and even some sewing done.

I am being lazy - I have books I am reading from the library and I am addicted to Runescape (online roll playing game my son got me hooked on) and can spend hours playing without noticing.

Ah well the house will get cleaned eventually - if hubby can have a vacation, then so can I :)

The Walk to End Breast Cancer Bra

Updated with new photo.

Ya try saying that 10 times fast.

My sister reminded me 2! days ago that we had bought her a pink bra several months ago that I was to decorate for her to wear while she walked the 60K for the Walk to End Breast Cancer.

Well with all the new babies and quilts, I totally forgot. Until she reminded me....2 days ago!

So I had to find it first, and then tackle getting it done.

Here is the before picture. (Notice the date stamp of Feb 17th - nothing like procrastinating huh?)

And here is the after. Not the best ..but I did only have 2 days! (it looks a little odd because she doesn't have to hooked up int he back).

And here is my son being goofy - he called it his thinking cap :)

And here is my sister and her walking partner at the end of the first day (30K) on Saturday.

To answer Gil's question - I am not sure of the route, I think it changes each year - but it is through downtown Toronto. They do 30K Saturday, then have dinner, and entertainment and camp out (yes in a tent) for the night, then begin all over again Sunday (after breakfast) to do the 2nd 30K.

The walk this year raised 13 Million dollars, all towards breast cancer research!

Great job ladies!
(and gents)

More pictures

J's first day of grade 6
Peanut's Halloween outfit - I love Dollarama!
I think it was supposed to be for a teddy bear
Her new fall outfit
She seems a little too happy in this one to
me - looks a lil demonic doncha think?
I bought Peanut an extra long leash for the backyard,
because we do not have a gate, and I don't want her getting out.
Instead of running wild, she decided to just eat it and tangle herself up.

Do you come here often?Ah ya ...that's the spot
Skooch just a lil closer so I can bite you
At one point she actually got his ear and pulled it into her crate
Hey buddy, talka me buddy...

MIA - I apologize

I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Life once again got in the way of my blogging :) Me and mine are fine - thanks for asking.

Ok this will be a huge catch-up post.

First off - last Sunday I attended my nephew's fiance's baby shower. However, my camera battery died on me and I continued to take pictures with my sister H's camera. She has not yet uploaded the photos. Get on it H! Of course it died before she opened the quilt I made, that is one of the pics I am waiting to get from my sister. Here is what I captured before the battery died.

Baby tree - we played a memory game of what was on the tree.
Baby cakeDiaper cake that my sister (the grandma) made. And a 2nd diaper cake she madeThe Mom to be.Gift table

My son's fish have YET AGAIN had babies - 10 more this time. We have moved all the fry into a 2nd tank we have. If they all live, we will have to take some to the pet store. There is no way we can keep them all (approx. 50 now). I am thinking to take the two original females back to the store as they STILL look pregnant. I did mention that the male died at the beginning of the summer, right?

On Friday, my niece Sandra had her baby girl Samantha. Samantha is 7lbs. Both Mom & babe are doing fine.

Saturday we did our annual trek to the Canadian National Exhibition (The EX). We left home at 10am, arrived at 12 noon, after hours of rides (J & his friend), tons of junk food (poutine, corn dogs & ice cream) and lots and lots of walking, we caught the 8pm train home, and arrived home extremely tired at 9:30pm. My friend L came over and cared for Peanut through out the day for me.
J's favorite ride
Calm on the way up
Then as they reach the bottom after a 2 second free fall
They are somewhere on this crazy contraption

Yesterday was filled with getting last minute school supplies. YES! Only one day to go till J goes back to school. I am totally looking forward to some quiet time alone (until I get back to work).

And of course I can't have a post without adding puppy pics. Here we have Kodi & Peanut fighting over Kodi's new blankie (Peanut has several of her own, but wants his).

And somehow Peanut got a hold of my camera and took some pics of herself.

Grungy Gretchen Flip-Thru

This is a flip-through of a recently completed journal of mine. I call it GG (grungy Gretchen), it is so far from my usual style but I enjoy...
