New quilt - opinions needed
So I bought a bundle of fat quarters (1/4 meters of fabric) from Walmart the other day. I decided to make a Bright Hope quilt.
This is a pic of the finished block (I still cannot cut or sew fabric square/straight to save my life :P) It doesn't look too bad does it?

Now I need your opinion on what colour sashing to use. Sashing will go between and around the blocks like a frame. I also have to decide on a border colour as well - that is a strip of fabric that goes all the way around the framed blocks - I'll think about that later.
I used MS Word to create these graphics, so I was limited on my colour choices. Also my sample pics are 3 blocks by 2 blocks. The actual quilt will be lap size and 4x4 blocks for a total of 16 blocks.
Please let me know which you like best or suggest a completely different colour - I'm game.

Beach, Peanut and Fishing
We had a lovely time at Cobourg beach yesterday. It wasn't too hot and it didn't rain (and I only got a teeny bit burned). We spent about 4 hours there. The water was freezing!
Here are some kid pics. The boys decided to dig a deep hole...
And finally some pics of Peanut yesterday - she really missed us when we were at the beach so she needed lots of cuddles when we got home. As you can see, she like to cuddle.

Extending long weekend
This weekend is a long weekend here in Ontario. Both DH & I also booked today and Friday off for an extra long weekend.
In a couple hours we will be heading to the beach - it is not super hot out today, but at least for once in the past several weeks, it is not raining!
I went to Walmart yesterday to buy some fabric to make my son some PJ shorts only to find that they had built a brand new Walmart Superstore (can you tell I don't go to Walmart very often? I never even seen the construction) and they have deleted the fabric department completely!
I had to be satisfied with buying a couple small bundles of fat quarters that I plan to use on a new lap quilt - more on that later. They don't even sell thread anymore!
I will head to Value Village and then Fabricland tomorrow for DS's short fabric. I am hoping I can find a nice old sheet that DS likes at Value Village. Fabricland is now that only fabric store around and their prices are crazy high.

A very late swap post
I joined a sewing swap at Down to earth months ago. We were to make pot holders & a tea towel for our swap partners.
My partner never replied to my emails and so I was given another swap partner who was abandoned by their original partner.
So we were both late getting our packages out and then realized neither of us had taken photos of our creations before mailing them.
So here is what I received from Melanie. I love the colours and isn't that flower sweet?

I'll post what I sent her when she sends me the pics.
