And the OWOH Winner is...

Well I used the trusty lil Random number generator and got number 90.

Comment number 90 is by Sue!

Congratulations Sue on winning a big ole mess of crafting supplies!

I had a great time on the magic carpet ride - looking forward to next year's event!

You know you're tired when...

I went to order pizza and tried to dial the remote...and couldn't figure out why the TV channels were changing.

Latest Creations

I've taken a mini break from the baby quilt for a day or two.

Here are some of the ATCs I have been working on.

This one was for a swap called Red Door

This & That

I finished the baby quilt top last week, bought fabric for the back on Friday and had my sister come by on Monday to pin it for me - I can never get it pinned properly without bunches.

Backing fabric matches front fabric really well

While she was here, after she pinned the baby quilt, she also pinned the pink quilt I made for her a couple years ago - now I can actually finish it for her :)

In other news, my son has decided to join Air Cadets - tonight is his 2nd meeting.

He has to dress up until he is issued a uniform in a few weeks. He looks so mature - too bad nice clothes don't change his attitude! :)

Stuff

The baby quilt now has both its borders sewn on.

Since I am not going to buy backing fabric until Friday, I have a day off in between for making more ATCs :)

Here are a few I have made recently.

The latest baby quilt in progress

I went shopping for fabric on Monday. I wasn't able to find any cute flannel like I used in the previous quilts (here, here & here).

The baby is a girl but the Mom doesn't care for pink so I opted for bright fun colours of cotton.

The bottom lime green alphabet pattern will be the wide border,
with the purple above it as the narrow border and the binding.

Monday - bought the fabric
Tuesday - designed the quilt and sewed the main 6 blocks

I've outlined one of the blocks so you can see there are 6 identical blocks,
but I rotated each one a quarter turn to achieve this pattern

Wed - Sew the blocks together
Thurs - I have to add a thin and then a wide border
Friday - I have to shop for backing fabric as the one I planned to use isn't wide enough

Then I just have to pin the layers together, get quilting and finally add the binding.

The shower is Feb 21st, so as long as I keep up this pace, I should be fine.

Sister's Surprise Graduation Party!

I have mentioned before that my older sister went back to school September 2008 to train for a completely new career.

She finished all her courses with honours in November but still had to fulfill 600 placement hours.

So as of January 15th, with her hours complete, she is now a Developmental Service Worker.

Her best friend and I started planning her surprise party on Boxing day.

It was quite difficult to pull it off as, my sister is currently only getting part-time hours so has made herself available for any additional hours.

We told her we wanted to do a Chick Flick night, but she told us she was working on Jan 30th (the night we chose). In actuality, she was not scheduled to work, as her best friend had contacted her supervisor and confirmed that my sister would not be scheduled that night so she could attend the party. Are you confused yet? We sure were.

After schedule changes and many made up stories, we managed to get her to arrive at 3:30 this past Saturday, only a mere half hour after friends and family from near and far arrived.

She was completely surprised - so all our hard work was worth it.

Looking completely perplexed as to why we are all there.
Even after we yelled "Congratulations!"
she wasn't sure what was going on :)
She finally gets it!

Grungy Gretchen Flip-Thru

This is a flip-through of a recently completed journal of mine. I call it GG (grungy Gretchen), it is so far from my usual style but I enjoy...
