Finally Finishing Some Watercolour Paintings

I sorted through my watercolour supplies yesterday and found several unfinished works from approx. 1989.

I decided to finish them up before starting any new paintings.

Here is my progress so far.

In the image collage, the 1st pic is the subject of my painting, either a print I bought or a card. The 2nd pic is the way the painting looked from 1989, before I started work on it again, and finally the 3rd pic is how it looks finished either now. I've also included just the final version to better show the detail.

I have a few more to finish, I will post them once done.

A Watercolour Painting

While watching my online friend Dede (Inkwell) stream a drawing/painting of a faery and butterfly yesterday, I was inspired to once again pull out my watercolours and attempt a painting.

I started with this Linda Ravenscroft 2008 calendar that I kept because I like the images.

It actually came together faster than I imagined it would. I got to this point before going to bed at midnight last night.

Then by about noon today.

And then finished it off today by 3pm.

Watercolour Doodling

Since about July, I have been watching various very clever artists do live art on Ustream.com.

The first one I found, via Youtube, was Paula or the JournalArtista.

Paula introduced me (and many many others) to art journaling.

Well anyhow, last night while watching Paula stream (on her channel ), I did some playing around with some watercolur pencils I have had for several years but never really used. And to be honest, I didn't really use them as they are meant to be used last night either, I wet the brush then brushed the tip of the pencil, instead of laying down marks with the pencil  oh well, old habits die hard.

Here is what I created.

I did two watercolour paintings today

I am finally getting my art mojo back.

This is my friend Melody's dog Cady.

And this is hubs' dog Kodi when he was a pup. It is outlined in ink then colured with watercolours - it looks more cartoonish.

Each painting took only a couple of hours.

Seems I like to art late at night

I did this watercolour between 11pm & 12:30 last night/this morning.

I have to find something other than Bostons to draw/paint though :)

A long long time ago in a galaxy far far away....

ok so not far far away - right here on earth......I used to paint. Yup. Watercolour.

Then I had a kid and life just sorta whizzed right on by. You blink and 10 years have past. Wow.

The last time I painted was 2 summers ago. My sister and I spent 4 days at my brother's cottage - just us and her dog. I took pictures of stuff, mostly flowers and then put them on her laptop and then painted from them - well I started two paintings. Never did finish them. I'm like that - I start lots of stuff - one day I will finish. I started this quilt at least 12 yrs ago but it is done now :)

It is time I got back to painting. I have a LOT of paintings to finish.

Here are some of my paintings. I haven't tried anything other than flowers yet. As you can see I have a lot to finish before I start a new one.

Oh and a photographer, I am not - sorry for the poor quality of some of them.

This one is dated 1989.

No date on this one but I am pretty sure it is from 1985 - I was still living at home with my parents when I did this one. Was from a greeting card.

Inspired by this - a print I got at LewisCraft.
So the one above I painted - this one I did not.I think this one was for a watercolour class I was taking. Dated 1986.

Not sure when I started this one- sometime in the late 80s I would assume.
It is not yet finished.

This is the inspiration -a greeting card - I decided not to include the cat as I figured it would end up looking like a mutant - I am not so good with people or animals :)

This one is only half done - no date.

One of my goals is to finish some of these and get them framed and hanging in my house. Two of them were actually painted for my brother about 20 years ago, maybe I'll finally give those to him :)
