While I was short on money this year, time & creativity, I did have.
My mother in-law was supposed to spend Christmas with us but due to circumstances outside our control, her stay had to be postponed. I still had to have some gifts for her as she is difficult to buy for and remember the shortage of cash?

Delayed Christmas
Well we didn't actually delay Christmas but due to health issues & treatments, we did postpone our Boxing day get together, which we will finally hold tomorrow.
I made fudge, spiced nuts, candied nuts, and cookies today in preparation. I still have a full box of storebought cookies & chocolates to open tomorrow and tons of finger foods.
Also, instead of our usual full house, because of scheduling conflicts and colds, we will only be having 2 couples over tomorrow.
I also have a post written showing all the gifts I made this year, but again, because I haven't yet seen everyone to give them said gifts, I cannot yet post pictures of them - so that post is coming up in a few weeks probably.
Both Hubs & the boy return to work & school on Monday - it will be nice to once again have the house to myself.
Have a nice weekend all!

Somewhat of an update
I know I haven't been around much other than to post book reviews.
I am going to be somewhat vague here (my longtime readers can email me for details) but the past couple months have been extremely hard. My stress levels are through the roof and I need to get them under control.
Christmas this year will be quiet with only the 3 of us at home. Our usual Boxing day get together has been postponed until Jan 7th. I am hoping the break will help me restore myself. I have been sleeping too much and not well at that. I had lost the few pounds I had regained, to get back to my 20lb loss, but have since gained again.
Things are looking somwhat better, but there is still a lot to come. Starting right after our party Jan 7th, I will be getting back to my lowcarb way of eating - I have been overindulging like crazy and I constantly feel sick. No use trying to go sugar free during the holidays though, so that is the reason for the delay. I will however, do my best to curb the carb craziness somewhat before that.
I'm doing my best to stay positive and keep everyone else positive. I can't belive there are only 4 days til Christmas. Our tree is up but not yet decorated - should probably do that today. I also only have 1/4 of my house decorations up - seems pointless when no one but us will see them.
If I don't get around to posting before Christmas, I want to wish all my lovely readers a wonderful Christmas and a fabulous New Year - may all your hopes & dreams come true and may you and your families be happy & healthy!

Seriously?
there are only 5 weeks til Christmas...seriously? Where the heck did the year go to? I am NOT ready for Christmas. I haven't even begun to think about being ready for Christmas.
It seems each year, I get closer and closer to the date before I actually feel like I am in a Christmasy mood.
So...I have decided, I am going to do a major clean this weekend and start decorating. The Toronto Santa Claus Parade is on Sunday - we can watch it on TV and drink hot chocolate with the fireplace lit. I hope this gets me in the Christmas mood.
I get gift cards for many of the people I buy for, but there is still some I have to shop for.
5 weeks...wow, I am so not ready *sigh*
P.S. We are going to see the 2nd last installment of the Harry Potter movies tomorrow night - we will go out for dinner 1st and make a night of it. So excited! I LOVE Harry Potter almost as much as the kid does.
